New Forum Rankings?
I was just thinking....anyone think it might be time to have a play with the forum rankings? Maybe create some new rankings etc etc ?
At the moment we are fairly limited:
Newbies (no ranking)
Senior
Senior Guru
Senior Forumgod
Asylum Knight of the Diver - 2880bph
Forum Menace - Mortis
Scrabble King -sonofcantona
Any thoughts?

Re: New Forum Rankings?
I have felt for a while that there are too few rankings - I started thinking that when my rank got to "Senior Forumgod". Somehow it seemed too easy to get there, and some might say inaccurate.
I imagine that Hans put them in in the early days and the post counts and membership size have outgrown the system.
I too will give it a think.

Re: New Forum Rankings?
Good idea
I think we should have a rank called Tyke for one.
I was thinking today pre this post that the membership list needs cleansing. To say we have 2725 members is a joke. I waded through the pages and would estimate that about 2000 of those have not posted anything at all or last posted years ago. It may actually be a lot higher than that.
Time for a sweep I say.

New Forum Rankings?
I am happy with my rank... But a few more options, especially for higher post counts, would be welcome.

Re: New Forum Rankings?
Obviously Hans would have to endorse and approve any changes, but I think he would be open to opinions on this matter.
Newbie 5
Junior 30
Senior 60
Expert 200
Senior Expert 250
Guru 300
Senior Guru 400
Forumgod 800
Senior Forumgod 1000
These are the current levels for ranking above.
How about something more watch related like...
Quartz - 30
Manual - 100
Automatic - 250
Keywind - 400
Fusee - 800
Chronograph - 1000
Flyback - 2000
Jump Hour - 3000
Repeater - 4000
Tourbillon - 5000

Watch related is good (the RLT watch forum runs from pin pallet to 35 jewels).Kip wrote: How about something more watch related like...

I'm not so happy with perpetuating the quartz-at-the-bottom idea, but using complications and features is a great idea, "Repeater", in particular, is a good name for a rank.
I'd add a few more into the mix, perhaps some of these...
Small Seconds
Fusee
Column Wheel
GMT
Power Reserve
Flyback
Retrograde (not sure about this one - negative connotation?)
Moonphase
Repeater
Tourbillon
Perpetual (not top of the complications but a good name for a mega-poster)
"Regulator" should be reserved for members of the Forum team.
Special ranks should be retained.
I'd keep something like the red bar, so there's a graphical illustration of the rank. Perhaps a clock-face with 1 o'clock to 12?
The gaps between the ranks don't quite work (only 50 between Expert and Senior Expert, only 200 between Forumgod and Senior Forumgod). What do you think about 0, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000.... then either thousands up to 5000 or just 2500 and 5000?

Re: New Forum Rankings?
I agree Dom, the quartz on the bottom probably is not so good. I thought of that after posting, but it was just a suggestion to get some ideas out there so I did not change it.

Re: New Forum Rankings?
I like the watch ideas, but I wonder if it isn't a bit silly to have (as titles) a load of complications that CWL don't even offer.
If we do, though, what about basing the order on the order in which they were invented in the watch world as a whole? Or naming ranks after CWL watches?
