I agree. Sales threads are not discussion threads. But perhaps this is a side effect of having a friendly chatty forum. I think that the only relevant posts by non OPs are questions where the answer would benefit all considering it - like "what is the lug width?" or a message saying PM sent. But only use that message if you have sent a PM saying you will buy it at the asking price to show others it is effectively sold. Don't say PM sent when you are offering a lower price or asking a general question. Just send the OP the PM.

I thiink there is a general need to be thoughtful / polite on a forum - as you would be in real life... that means that it is perfectly fine on a sales thread to post - maybe asking for clarification etc. - but it might be rude to make comments sharing opinion (e.g. that is way too expensive - up to the seller!) - anything refering to negotiating a price I would never do on a thread
