C60 Elite 1000 LE - Prototype

Post by Bahnstormer_vRS »

Rather than clog up the CW of the day thread with discussion, I thought I'd start a topic for my C60 Elite 1000 LE - Prototype purchased a few days ago in the January Sale.

Having received a dispatched email from CW on Saturday, I was all expecting it to be delivered by DPD sometime on Monday. Imagine my surprise when a DPD van pulled up outside my house late on Sunday morning as I was preparing lunch.

It came on a blue hybrid strap, but I've switched it onto the (steel) bracelet from my C60 Apex. There's a very slight difference in colour between the steel bracelet and titanium case but not so much that is immediately apparent; you only really notice the difference if you know there is one.

Strangely, the Titanium bracelet from my C60 Elite GMT wouldn't click in and, having looked at it carefully, there is a fraction of a millimetre difference in the position of the QR spring bar between the two bracelets. The Titanium bracelet will fit my Apex but not the Elite P'type.

The case back is not all that it might at first seem. The inner ring of case back tool cut-outs are actually display with an Orange rotor below, creating a 'breather' effect similar to the running seconds on the dial.

That is very cool Guy. There’s been quite a bit of effort put into that one; it’s not just a colourway change, it’s movement, dial, concept, many things. Great pickup mate!
Thank you Gary.

You're dead right, there's a lot of detail to the watch that makes it interesting.

Having the running seconds @ 9 begs the question of which movement have CW used? The Owners Handbook that came with it is for the day/date Elite 1000, but I understand that this is an initial prototype for the earlier date only Elite 1000 LE; which use the SW220-1 COSC and SW200-1 COSC respectively.

@richtel has suggested the SW290, which, looking through the SW200 Family of Movements, has running seconds @ 9 with date @ 3. I favour the SW260-1, which has running seconds @ 6 and date @ 3 but rotated through 90 degrees.

However, I have no idea which is easier to reconfigure, if it is possible.

Finally, for now, I've switched this evening onto a Watchgecko Veryan NATO

This looks fantastic Guy! A nice pickup from you!
Would be brilliant to see a short video of the breathing effects if that's something you can do.
Your old Orange Kingfisher currently sits on an identical strap too. ;)

Cheers Max. I have a Video or the 'breather' and just need to work out how to upload it. I've got a YouTube account but never used it for that; yet.

Very nice Guy and presumably unique? Do you have a cunning plan to pin the movement type down as enquiring minds would also like to know? :irre:

Guy, is this plan “As cunning as a fox who’s just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University?”

By the way! Fabulous watch, sir

Very intriguing (and mesmerizing) that running seconds 8)

i really think this is fantastic. The original photo on the website made the color appear like the C65 Trident, but in your video and on your wrist it appears more like the normal Elite.
