 I wonder how much the entire cost of rebranding and marketing was.
It generated a gross profit of £2.5m but overall made a loss of £493,000 for the year.
Half a million pounds loss doesn't sound like a good year?

Sale of the old models at low prices and the the weakened value of the UK pound probably played a big part in the increased orders from outside the UK.
Rebranding can cost anything from 10k to millions, depends on whether you get a high end agency in or your own marketing department brainstorm it over a load of Greggs donuts .....

500k loss when building a brand isn't insurmountable if it was part of the plan, plenty of unicorns out there making a loss yet the investors still froth at the mouth for them ...

I don't see it as building a brand when they've been around for what, 10 years ?

Sadly, as is usual with this company things never seem to add up.

What is the point of declaring an increase in overseas sales of 58% when they fail to say from what or to what? Could be a ludicrously small number or something quite remarkable!

Christopher Ward was claiming annual sales of 20,000 and rising some three years ago and he has quoted the same figure this year. If you divide the latest quoted and audited turnover figure of £7.7m by 20,000 you could conclude an average watch selling price of £385. But it is in fact much lower than that because the turnover figure will include all manner of other sales, straps, winders, leather goods etc bringing the average watch price down significantly. So what are we to conclude?

Regarding sales numbers, my first purchase was in August 2016 and I purchased the Trident Day Date the last few days of March. If the order numbers are consecutive then the order numbers have jumped by approx 14000 in seven months - although I do accept that an order number is also generated for return packs, straps and no doubt replacement items. Also the order number doesn't allude to whether it was for one item, or multiple but I suppose it gives an insight to volume of orders processed.
Current collection incl Citizen, G-Shock, Rolex, Seiko, Sinn & Tag.

The only thing I can conclude is that I'm glad I became a Latin and MFL teacher, because I don't have a clue what most of this thread is about!

I keep seeing the title and thinking that CW are now making bags to replace the wallets and iPad cases, and that they have gone up in price by 58%.

Sorry, my eyes start to glaze over when people start talking business and economics, a bit like my students' eyes do when I talk about Passive Infinitives and Ablative Absolutes.

I guess that the consequences in costliness strategy of CWL online presence. But many brands are reporting similar things; just CWL was more ahead as its online brand ever since.

I know this is an old thread that resurfaced.

Just some observations.

Although this is an old thread, at the top it points to 01134.co.uk (you would think they would have 01134.com as well). 01134 is hello backwards, sort of. Anyway, CW is very high up on their website, so must be pretty important to them. Maybe they helped rebrand the logos. The journal page, is quite prominent on their pc website, but a bit less so on the mobile. The third item down is offering an internship, but the item is 3 years out of date. It doesn't look very smart for CWs marketing company, if they still are, not to be updating their website more than this.

Great news for all of us that own CW watches. It’s always nice when you find someone else who owned one. I recently went to a dentist who spotted mine and said he had one and that his friends were thinking of buying.
So the more that are out there the better I’d say
