I'd take a C80 Sector - the USAAF Sector Clocks one with the coloured areas, not just the triangles - if I could be there. :-(

Archive Event...

Post by Ranger »

...from todays email, Sounds Interesting.

"Christopher Ward will be holding an Archive Event with over 100 rare ‘gems’ from the back catalogue available for sale.

Until the doors open, the sale list will be classified information – but we can reveal contains prototypes, samples, early serial numbers and discontinued lines from the company’s entire 10 year history.

Doors open at 5.30pm for this strictly first come, first served event.

At 7.30pm an auction of 10 serial #1s from the first 10 years of Christopher Ward will be held."

It looks as though CW is selling his personal collection of No 1's together with the stuff that has failed to sell in the NN sales

Quite extraordinary the lengths they will go to to raise a few pounds! Is there a cash flow crisis?

It's unusual to hold an auction without any information in advance about the lots, other than they are CW watches of some sort. Could be great, could be a waste of time.

I haven't received the email, so when is this happening? Is it a Maidenhead "have to turn up in person" event, rather than being online?

Yep looks like a gathering in person and there is a link in the Email to rsvp with the number of guests you want to take.

Kinda sad it's an in-person sale in that pretty well the first words under the CW name is "CHRISTOPHER WARD EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE ONLINE".

It is definitely a shame that the auction lots are being kept secret until the doors open. As people have already said, difficult to justify travelling if you don't know what's going to be available.

No reason why it shouldn't be and with online bidding too. So many live streaming - free - programmes these days, it would be so easy to set up.

Don't worry about it not being online as I'm sure a few will quickly appear on eBay. :(
