Re: Bluebird
It would have been nice if this had been posted in the news section as it was released to the wider world. I don't mean this thread, but the "NEWS". As we can see it was known about. But hopefully good for CWL anyway.

I agree, but only the forum team can post in "News" and I guess the forum team weren't informed officially.Helix Von Smelix wrote:It would have been nice if this had been posted in the news section as it was released to the wider world. It seems that Kip has moved it to "News" now.
Yes, it'll be interesting to see what comes of this, but I have my reservations about watches made from bits of Bluebird ("fragments of the record-breaking cars and boats") - I hope CWL don't come over all Romain Jerome.

Re: Bluebird
This is interesting, I hope that the watches are not just another set of quartz chronographs, would be nice to see some classic style mechanicals.
No more Quartz (except when I cannot resist).

Excellent news indeed ...but i would have like to have thought that there would have been news here before learning about it from WUS.

Re: Bluebird
Not just classic but striving for iconic. The Campbell's and the Bluebird name have that iconic stature within British history - let's live in hope that the offering's aim for something that could be similarly called iconic.alphajet wrote:This is interesting, I hope that the watches are not just another set of quartz chronographs, would be nice to see some classic style mechanicals.
Now the usual mantra.... pictures - or it's not happening

Not saying CW owe us anything but as the forum is always used in media to show how close they are to their people then maybe it would have been nice to hear such major news first.

Re: Bluebird
The Bluebird watch sounds very interesting!
I'm fascinated by the Campbell and speed records story, despite it's tragic ending, and have spent many an hour by Coniston soaking up the atmosphere of the place and imagining what it must have been like in the 60's when the attempts were taking place.

Ideal number of watches in your collection = current number of watches + 1...

What are people expecting, something overtly sporty (c70 type) or a bit more classic?
