Thats pretty darn lovely Downer, I was maybe thinking chocolate dial with gold accents and hands perhaps, Ltd edition?

Think some may be put off by its ability to never look perfect again, but when u have alot of steel watches its nice to see something different. Lets face it, all other new materials out there are good ways to make watches more expensive!

No. Actually, HELL NO!

Just my opinion, but I don't think you would get anything like enough people to buy something like this even as an LE. This kind of thing might work as a special order / on off piece with a price tag to match, but it has to be the reason why you don't see this kind of thing available frankly anywhere mainstream - insufficient demand. It would take a very brave maker to risk it for large scale production IMHO.
Downers image seems to me to be of a bronze watch that has been exposed to extreme patina, a look that would not be achievable for many many years if the current favorite alloy among brands was used (UNI 5275 Bronze- CuAl11Fe4Ni4) they would patina like this initially (the look below has been accelerated using certain methods):

Although Anomino have been making bronze watches large scale for a number of years it seems other big brands have used the metal aswell (apparently) namely: Alain Silberstein, Hublot, Rado, Gerald Genta and Audemars Piguet but for sure i think a limited run would make better sense for a smaller brand but thats no bad thing. Limited editions are always a lot of fun!

Bronze will never replace steel or gold, It just seems to be in vogue this year and will find fans just as how people find there ways into different niches of music or movies that, given time, build a cult.

Any idea what the price points are for watches using this metal?

Can't argue against niche models like this for big brands, but I suspect they can better afford to run the risk of designing & building a 'dud' in sales terms.

Probably just me, but the words fashion statement & in vogue sum it up for me. What happens if you build a bundle of them & then as always happens it becomes 'so last year dahling' ? Answer: a shelf full of expensive metal you can't shift.

Sure its en vogue as this is the first year people have really taken notice of Bronze as a case material but Ignore the buzz words, they are merely used to state the fact that this is a highly discussed topic at the moment - something i wasn't aware of until i started digging about. If your opinion represents the majority of the forum then i will have my answer to my original post.

Wouldn't think for a minute that my views are in any way representative of the mainstream on here, far from it as I guess I'm one of the more (small c) conservative thinkers, so you'll probably get more agreeing with you than with me. I just don't really see this as a CW kind of thing, but the great thing on here is that the manufacturer takes notice of people's opinions, so you might like to suggest this either directly to them or maybe through someone like Kip. Who knows, they may go with it.

Hey, why stop at Bronze, we could have watches made out of..........

WOOD

Renewable, eco-friendly so very 'On Trend' (getting the hang of marketing speak now), multiple colours (pick your own varnish) & in keeping with the CW designation codes, it could be known as the C-dar range

Bronze - A thread resurrection from 2011

Was doing a little research and came across this thread from 10 years ago. It made for an interesting read given how things have progressed with mainstream brands using Bronze as a case material.
Thought I would resurrect as there were some great predictions, misses and science amongst the posts.

Takes me back. Was an active member, CW did release a Bronze watch about 9 years later, the lido would have been an excellent rerelease two or three years ago when the integrated bracelet storm took hold once more.

Anywho I'm Trying to kickstart my own brand as we speak, have cad, and photo realistic images as well as some 3d models. The modular case design means it could easily have bronze lugs. Onwards to prototypes like some young, Japanese engined CW.....aaah dreams.

Definitely keep us informed as you develop your own brand, it sounds like an interesting concept.

I wasn't around back then so there were a couple of contributors I'm not familiar with.

No worries. I'd like to, if I ever make it to prototypes but I Often think about the c2, was a great watch
