Hoping it won’t take months to fix but I don’t want to keep using the watch with this issue.
Do not persist in trying to wind the watch. You will cause further damage.

Get it fixed as soon as possible.

It really isn’t an issue that corrects itself.

A movement won’t fix itself. Best to send it in for repair and exercise patience.

And holding the watch in a vertical position as mentioned in a few places doesn’t help the issue? I’ve seen a couple videos and seen in the sellitas manual that the movement should be wound at a 30 degree tilt.
No it’s the same - I can make the rotor spin each time. The other two C60s I have with the same movement do not do this at all. It’s just normal smooth winding on those.

Best to get it sorted so you can enjoy the watch.
Thanks and yes that’s my thinking as well. I can’t really enjoy it right now.

Had exactly the same problem on one of my watches a few years back (which also happened to be my oldest with an ETA movement). Because it had an exhibition back, you could see the rotor spinning. Needed a service and was (apparently) caused by the watch not being worn very often which was a surprise to me as it was in regular rotation.

Ernst Benz Chronoscope DLC
Oris WilliamsF1 Day Date 2004

Too many watches, not enough time :(

It’s on its way back to CW as of today.

Dealing with Vallen has been fantastic as always.

Which is to say that from the point of manufacture, through transport, storage and retail even before you bought it, the watch was quietly degrading and failing? I bet that was never mentioned....

It was probably a mis-spoke. They meant to say "worn too much" I think. :)

One of my older CW watches does this. If I wear it more, it stops. I think it's just a use thing, it'll free itself up.

CW HQ replied, kindly asking for £165 as repair fee…. I replied with picture of warranty card as originally sent to Vallen and CS team. Dated May 2018 so well within the service/warranty period of 4 years. I hope they will accept it. If not, I guess I’ll have to bite the bullet and then sell all my CWs in disgust… :(

Hope that you get it sorted and with no charge.

This watch may have even been sold before the date (May 2019?) that they changed the stance on warranty from a recommendation to an explicit clause to say that a cost of a service would be charged if a service had not taken place between year 3-4. Would you technically be covered for 5 years anyway if you had the old wording?

For CW to get it wrong and try to charge is a disgrace and really lets them down if that is the case.

The fact that I would be reluctant to wear my C60 in any kind of water just from hearing how they have debated with others whether people have had the crown out or not when there has been water issues pretty much sums up how much I trust them to do the right thing first time these days.
