You didn't express which colorway and I think that would make the choices a bit different. I have the black dial.
Most days it is on the Phoenix Admiralty Grey NATO.
Looks great on the CW Tropic Strap too.

Indeed, a Tropic suits the Dartmouth very well. Anything vintage styled, actually, specially on the black one.
The OP asked about aftermarket rubber, and for a Tropic I prefer a more true-to-vintage option. Bulang & Sons sell a very nice quality Tropic in every possible lug size. It is long enough to fit over some rash or even a light wetsuit, but not too long to become annoying.
I have one of these that I used this summer with my Dartmouth. I took it to some actual diving on this strap (with a CW buckle, just because I'm a bit OCD, stock bucle is excellent).
