Oh what a dilemma!
There’s a lovely early C60 Trident with a charcoal bezel listed in the sales corner. Great price and in Virginia!….
But, I would likely be a dead man walking with my wife if I were to make a purchase….
But maybe she wouldn’t even notice if I just slipped it in the watch box and in rotation…
But isn’t that a lie by omission and certainly not conducive to a healthy marriage?…
But I’m a grown man, entitled to spend my money how I choose!….
But happy wife, happy life….
Charcoal bezel calls
A Trident, tool watch, classic
And that old logo!

Re: Oh what a dilemma!
It sounds like you should be able to make a passionate and persuasive case to your wife, get her buy-in and then go ahead with the purchase guilt-free.
Can anyone spot a flaw with this plan?

Re: Oh what a dilemma!
It's local, it's at a price you like, it's a great watch, it's an 'iconic' CW model you don't have.
What you waiting for?
Seriously, if you don't want to keep it from your Wife, tell her that you're really beginning to enjoy a small rotation of watches and plan to keep numbers to a minimum.
She wants you to be happy right?

Re: Oh what a dilemma!
Buy her something of similar or greater value and get the watch!

I'm told it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.

Re: Oh what a dilemma!
From previous posts I seem to remember this is not about money, but rather more about a perception that additional watches somehow diminish the importance of the watch your wife gifted you?
If so, you will be in this situation forever - unless you can reframe the gift watch as something that ignited your passion for watches, meaning that additional watches are more of an extension of the original gift than a dilution of it.
Or something…

^^^ That’s pretty smart.
I’m in the ask for forgiveness rather than permission camp.
I don’t think you’ll find anyone here who will advise not to buy it

There's something to be said for having a large watch box..or 2..or..
Ebels are a lot like women that lack a lowcut dress that zips up the side..neither gets the love that they deserve..

I think you've missed your vocation as an Agony Uncle. Perhaps we need a "Dear Downer" sub-forum?

I would buy it...don’t let anyone dictate to you what you can and can’t do....would just like to add that my longest relationship was about 4 years and I’ve been single most of my adult life
Hope that helps Andrew

You are correct, and that is the exact line of thinking I’m working on!downer wrote: ↑Sat Aug 28, 2021 9:24 pm From previous posts I seem to remember this is not about money, but rather more about a perception that additional watches somehow diminish the importance of the watch your wife gifted you?

Yes! That’s a brilliant idea.
I think context is everything with your comment.
