C9 Jumping Hour…bracelets.

Post by Gar787 »

Having recently bought a CW Milanese bracelet from a Forum member, I am toying as to which watch to try it on. I’m struggling a little, picturing it on my C9 JH and I can’t really make my mind up.
The original brown leather CW bader strap is fantastic on it, and a QR…the Milanese is non-QR so it will be a case of taking it off to my watch maker to have it fitted which makes the quick strap change facility a little more ‘involved’ as I do not own any tools aside from some micro-screwdrivers and I wouldn’t be happy scratching around trying to fit/unfit the bracelet myself.
I guess two questions really… has anyone tried the C9 JH with a Milanese and does anyone have advice about purchasing tools that will enable me to remove/fit a non-QR strap/bracelet without causing carnage?
Thanks in advance,
Phil.

C9 Jump Hour on bracelet? I don't think I've seen a pic of one on the Milanese Mesh but there's this pic from Ferg borrowed from the Reference Gallery of one on an original fitted CW bracelet that might help;-

Alternatively, try a search through the CW of the Day thread for a few more.

I don’t have a C9 Jumping Hour, but do have a C1 Grand Malvern 5 Day Automatic (see photo), which came on a black leather Bader clasp strap.

I already had a CW Mesh and thought it would look good on this, so swapped to it a few weeks ago and it’s stayed on ever since… love the look of this watch on the mesh :D

It’s an elegant, but “slightly” less formal look… I wore it to a wedding and it worked perfectly

It’s a bit fiddly putting these on, but doesn’t need a jeweller to do it… I have a Bergeon strap changing tool, which works perfectly…. You just need to be careful putting the in between the lugs and holding it compressed with the tool… Just take your time. Some advise putting a little Scotch tape over the lugs to protect from scratching as you do it.

The Jumping Hour is a watch I am seriously looking fo add to my collection, it’s gorgeous

All you need to change the bracelet on/off is a spring bar tool, though you'll need to size it the first time and for that you need a pin extractor (less than £10) or get the jeweller to do it. The best is the Bergeon 6767F and I found that the Milanese bracelet is easy to fit and remove.

Many thanks Gents and thank you for the pics. I’ll pick up the advised tools. I guess the only concern with the Milanese on the C9 is the depth/thickness of that watch’s case. It’s a hefty bit of kit and I’m not sure it would work with the bracelet being fairly slim, which is fine on the Malverns, etc. Only one way to find out I suppose so I’m off to my watch guy in Liverpool. Thanks again to you all…👌 Phil.

I agree with you Re: the Jumping Hour. My missus is fairly disinterested in my watch collection but she’d have me wear the JH every day. For what it’s worth, last time I saw Chris Ward, he was wearing one. That was good enough for me to hunt one down.👍

I have my MkII JH and other C9's on leather straps - not considered Milanese on my CW's.

I do however have a number of other watches on Milanese bracelets and find them to be very comfortable to wear (with length adjustment by 4 removeable sections on each end of the bracelet).

Really interesting to follow this - I have mine on leather currently, but may look into a bracelet at some point now!

Further to my last…my watch guy was thrilled to have a Jumping Hour in and put the Milanese on free of charge, although he advised me not to take it on our cruise through the Aegean this coming Friday due to humidity! Here’s a few pictures, excuse the poor quality as it’s my first attempt. It works better than I thought it would as, even though the case has a brushed finish, the inter-lug case, like the outer bezel is polished, as is the Milanese of course. I’d be interested to know your esteemed opinions….the wife still pines for the original brown leather/crocodile bader. Incidentally, the watch and bracelet are courtesy of a couple of top sellers on this forum.

I think that works very well - nice. The CW (Staib) Milanese is heavy and chunky so I was pretty certain it would suit the C9 case, but proof and pudding....

Can you have a word with the wife please? She does go on…but only about the C9 oddly enough!

Doubt I'll be of much help, my wife prefers the brown leather/Bader for my C9 too (though granted it's a 43mm and was on the stock bracelet) - I've come to agree. To be fair, she does prefer the Milanese on my C1 to the blue leather/Bader though.

Time to acclimatise required, maybe? 8)
