It's a shame that yesterday (25/08/2021) Victorinox also announced a #tide link-up.
I just don't understand that attitude. Surely the more plastic we can get out of the seas the better?
I’m absolutely sure that Mark didn’t mean that in a negative way. It was perhaps an unfortunate choice of phrase, and it might have been better to say that it was ironic that Victorinox announced it at the same time. At least that’s the way I read it, he’s a good bloke.
The cheque is in the post, Steve. It was indeed a poor turn of phrase. What I was trying to say was that, in terms of CW's launch of the C60 #tide, the Victorinox announcement of a similar tie-up was unfortunate timing. I note that CW have worked with #tide since the launch of the C60 Blue and have lived through the public development of the #tide strap. Both #tide and the Blue Marine foundation should be commended for their efforts.

Just been giving the C60#tide a proper look over on the CW website. I think it's a really lovely watch; personally I can find little if anything to fault about it. I think CW have missed a trick by not offering a percentage of the whole watch sale to the #tide organisation. Against a watch costing around £1K, 5% of the price would have been a much more generous token and would have conveyed that CW really was very serious indeed about the plight of our oceans. I know that something is better than nothing, but why not be at the forefront of a movement rather than just a very modest participant. Still, I applaud the sentiment and the watch really is very nice in my humble opinion.

^^ I think you missed this...

From the CWArchves Timeline.

CW announced that all proceeds from the sale of the C60 BLUE Limited Edition, that was designed with the Blue Marine Foundation (BLUE), and launched on November 11, 2020 would be donated. On July 1, 2021 CW announced that they had donated £200,000 to BLUE.

These funds were from a 500 piece Limited Edition and did not include development costs.

I think £5 from all tide strap sales moving forward is still generous.

I did indeed Kip and thanks for putting me right. That is a very noble contribution from CW, I take my hat off to them, some might even 'fill their gourds and offer two spears' for such a valiant effort.

One cute aspect is the steel ring inside the bezel is fixed. The bezel itself is therefore slim.

Nice.

Nice photos Guy and many thanks for getting on and putting these up... it's certainly a lovely watch

I'm still a little undecided about the whole sapphire dial look, but if any could tip me over into that camp, this could do it

I am not the greatest fan of the sapphire dials. The C60 BLUE changed my mind though. The addition of a pattern to the dial makes a huge difference. The additional bands on the C60 #tide make this a very attractive watch.

I think this makes a tremendous difference in the appearance while making the the bezel thinner. As a result I believe it will wear more like a 40mm.

What do you say Guy?

^^^^ I'll agree, Kip, it slims the whole appearance down a tad. Gives it kind of a Vintage vibe (without going full retro).

Hard to compare against the 40mm C60 BLUE (Marine) as that had a steel full blue bezel (and I sold it recently) but compared with my 'standard' C60 Mk3 black/black, the thin steel ring, gives it a softer look.

The Elite 1000 GMT with its white chapter ring, gives a full on slimming look (part of the reason I was content to let mine go) but the C60 #tide is somewhere in between.

In a nutshell. More like a 41mm.

Not the strongest lume on the dial, and it took a while to charge up, but I think CW have got it spot on. Too strong would detract from the overall look.

Thanks Guy. I think it looks good and I agree that if it was any stronger then the dial would be too busy in the dark. As you say, it looks spot on.
