It would have been more interesting if CW went a step further and made the watch hands, hour markers or similar out of recycled plastic. It would have lifted the theme and made it a really unique piece.
See my quote here from the "different, interesting" thread ...

Due to be released anytime now.

^^^^ Another recycled plastic watch in the form of the GYRE SeaCleaner that uses a case made out of Marine rescued recycled plastic.

I've got one.

Looks great but strikes me as yet another example of CW ripping off their own LE design

It's a shame that yesterday (25/08/2021) Victorinox also announced a #tide link-up.

Absolutely. For those who have had the chance to look at the new Loupe Edition #22, there is a very strong focus on some of the ecological and conservation issues. Well worth a read.

Got the Blue LE, this doesn't hurt my feelings at all. The lumed dial is pretty sweet and would have been nice on the LE. Prefer the bezel on the Blue to the touch of steel here. I like that they finally did the sapphire wave without a full steel bezel. Do it and black and I might need it.

I just don't understand that attitude. Surely the more plastic we can get out of the seas the better? Wouldn't it be great to see MORE uses of marine plastic, not only raising awareness of the problem but, more to the point, actually doing something about it?

Still, I have a wry smile when I think that whenever someone makes a watch incorporating a piece of a historic car or 'plane there is always a "scrap metal" crack made. And here we have components that are literally made from rubbish  Long may it continue!

I’m tempted by this one. I must admit to being slightly disappointed that there isn’t a donation from watches sold, only the tide straps.

I’m absolutely sure that Mark didn’t mean that in a negative way. It was perhaps an unfortunate choice of phrase, and it might have been better to say that it was ironic that Victorinox announced it at the same time. At least that’s the way I read it, he’s a good bloke.

In terms of using #tide material, absolutely. In terms of CW's release schedule it was a bit unfortunate. The multi-dimensional approach taken by #tide in terms of employing fisherman to collect, sort and perform initial processing is novel and, I hope, effective. It serves two purposes: it stops plastics from entering the ocean and provides alternative occupations for fisherman who might otherwise overfish. So #tide should be celebrated.

Yes, I get your point. No offence meant. I suppose that while we look at #tide with our CW heads on, #tide understandably wants to maximise their customer base and take up of their products. Hopefully everyone can be a winner. Back to the watch - I think it looks great.
