A great gesture for CW forum members, but the pessimist in me can't help but think ample amount of notice has been given in order for people who aren't currently forum members to quickly try and post 25 times before Wednesday now that it has been shared on Facebook, hopefully scalpers don't become aware of it!

Wow, what a great gesture! Thank you, Kip, and CW for this opportunity. I’m looking forward to seeing the special collection.

It would be a nice change when they made these available in an eBay or other auction. This way, eBay resellers will have to pay market value and it won't be a mad rush to grab what you can get.

Or at least show what will be available before the sale starts so you can see which one you may be going for.
Do we think eBay resellers are Forum Members with >25 posts?

audio.bill wrote: Mon Jul 26, 2021 4:13 pm Since there are a very limited number of offerings expected in this prototype sale, I would respectfully suggest some limitation be set on quantity purchased per user account.
If doable, that does sound reasonable... I notice CW themselves only allow 2 maximum of any particular model variant to be purchased on their main site now
C1 - Bel Canto, Grand Malvern 5 Day
C5 - FLE
C60 - Concept
C65 - Cranwell, Super Compressor
C9 - 5 Day Small Seconds
Omega - Aqua Terra, SMP Nekton
Breitling - SuperOcean
Rolex - Air King

In some way, actually these prototypes might actually benefit from an auction type sale... I doubt the ebay sellers would want to go too high with their bids

However, I appreciate this is probably not feasible/easy and so we'll all just appreciate the opportunity to perhaps purchase something a bit different and take our chances... so again thanks for the opportunity

I see a member here has been posted this on Facebook almost as soon as it appeared.

Better watch out for a flurry of new people getting their post counts up. . .

25 posts does seem accessible to most of the forum community, so no doubt these will appear on eBay/ reseller sites. What isn’t clear is what ‘active’ posting means and if the line of 25 has already been baselined meaning a rush to 25 is pointless

25 posts seems quite low.

264...ish would sound about right to me .

Good luck to all those looking to buy and hopefully we will see some pictures of rare models soon.

A great gesture, although I suspect given my limited budget and the overall rush, I’ll be restricted to just browsing and admiring some lesser-spotted pieces.

Nevertheless, PM sent Kip.

A quick glance at some recent topics on this board shows a clear flurry of consecutive posts from users marked as newbies who have less than 25 posts who have suddenly become active today after many months away, funny that. My favourite being a user who posted many times today and stopped bang on 25 posts having last posted last Christmas

Perhaps may take be quite a task for Kip, but I think the only way around this is for some diligence upon checking each users recent posting activity before sending out a password request, of course, may well be and I am sure are still CW enthusiasts, but is the only way I can see to prevent scalpers getting in before forum members.

 To be honest it is quite easy, if you glance through top topics on the boards and look for users that are marked as newbies, you can then open their profile and see the high activity today, with their previous activity being months ago.
