C 65 Dartmouth is poorly
I’m saddened to say that my C65 Dartmouth is proper poorly!
When you pull out the crown to set the time, the hands will rotate for approx 10 minutes worth of the dial, after which, the crown disengages and the hands no longer turn.
Anyway, it’s now in the hands of the Royal Mail and heading back to CW Towers.
Looking forward to its safe return, in tip top condition, as I rather like this fella.

Re: C 65 Dartmouth is poorly
That’s a pity Steve. I’m wearing mine at the moment and it’s also a favourite for me.
I’m sure CW will have it sorted and back to you before long. At least we watch obsessed folk have a choice of multiple other watches to wear, I guess if it was your only watch it would be more inconvenient.

Sorry to hear that. I hope they sort it quickly for you.
As a Dartmouth owner myself, I’d be interested to hear what happened.

That's a shame Steve.
Hopefully a simple issue to fix and CW will turn it around swiftly for you.

Re: C 65 Dartmouth is poorly
Thanks folks. I’m totally confident that CW will sort it out for me.
When I first saw these watches, I liked them but not enough to actually consider a purchase so when it popped up as an NN, it was an impulsive purchase, just to have a look. I’m really surprised at how much I like it. I’m going to miss it but that will just make it’s return more special!

Disappointing, but the reunion will be something to look forward to.
I was admiring your photo of the watch, do you use the Zorki? I do like those Russian cameras. I have a few - they can produce excellent results although I prefer the handling of my Kiev 4.

I haven’t actually run a film through it but it is in working order now as I’ve fixed the film advance issue that plagues these.exHowfener wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 11:02 pm Disappointing, but the reunion will be something to look forward to.

Re: C 65 Dartmouth is poorly
Oh you should run film through it but first be sure you've not got leaky curtains The four being a back loader, access to the film curtains is easy and fixing pinhole leaks is an easy enough and well-documented fix. Have to admit I wasn't aware of a generic film advance issue though...... You weren't by any chance thinking about the bottom loading earlier generations of Zorki?Thermexman wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 11:52 pmI haven’t actually run a film through it but it is in working order now as I’ve fixed the film advance issue that plagues these.exHowfener wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 11:02 pm Disappointing, but the reunion will be something to look forward to.

Re: C 65 Dartmouth is poorly
Mine is deffo not a bottom loader as you say. It dates from 1968 as denoted by the first two digits of the serial number. I can’t remember the specifics as I’ve owned it for some time but I seem to recall that if you change the shutter speed dial without first cocking the shutter, you end up with things getting out of step? A bit like setting the date on a watch between 10pm & 2 am?tikkathree wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 5:17 am

When I bought it, changing the shutter speed made no difference to the actual speed at which it fired and the rewind mechanism didn’t engage. I researched it but couldn’t find a fix. Having delved inside for a nosey around, I spotted some part of the mechanism was fouling so fiddled with it and got lucky.
My job/working hours changed and the resultant loss of free time has meant that the hobby is on the back burner. Watches then took over!

Keep us posted. I'd be interested to know what was repaired. I have had similar issues.

Never had any problems on the rare occasions when I have had to send a watch back to the CW medics. It may take a while for them to fix the problem, but it has always been worth the wait.
I will be keeping fingers crossed for your lovely watch,
Keep safe yourself,
