Spot on Lawrence. I think Mike stated that Rolex tend to start the trend and with the new Explorer they have. So the days of 42mm+ may be numbered.

We have a poll in the CWA group asking about the preferred size for the Sealander Auto and GMT. The 'trend of smaller watches' doesn't really seem to match with what customers actually want in the Sealander and other watches as shown by the poll results and discussions.

Sealander size:

41-42mm: 100 votes
39mm: 93 votes
36 - 37mm: 15 votes

Did you post the results from the correct poll? I'm reading that watches under 40mm have more votes for them than watches over 40mm. That looks to be following the trend for smaller watches.

And they omitted 40 which is a pretty good size itself.

Pfffttt....size is a merely a clever ruse to distract form the logo placement ad nauseum discussion.

It was a poll to see preference for a larger or smaller Sealander. 48% of votes were for a bigger Sealander, 45% likes the 39mm size and only 7% want a smaller size.

So 52% were either happy with the status quo or wanted something smaller. That’s good. :D

So 52% (45% + 7%) agreed with the "trend for smaller watches" as the 39mm C63 is part of the trend for smaller watches. Only 7% (according to your poll) wanted even smaller watches.

Results show the 115 voters who want a different size Sealander from the current one, 87% want bigger and 13% want smaller.

They also show that of all the voters, 52% didn’t want a bigger watch. :D

Quite obviously based on the last few posts, the data shows a few things depending on how you look at it.

1) There were more votes for watches 39mm and smaller, supporting the trend toward smaller watches.
2) I think what Frank is getting at is that if CW chooses to make an additional size of the sealander, they’d make more sales by offering the 41+mm size rather than the 36mm size.

IF all CW customers are represented by people who a) use Facebook and b) participate in a Facebook watch group dedicated to the brand :D . There are a lot of customers out there who don’t use Facebook or participate in groups or forums in general that will have differing opinions. Without CWs data on their customer demographics, there’s no way to know how accurate this might be.

But it’s an interesting data point, maybe useful to CW if they are watching.

All fair points. But that's not what Frank claimed the data were saying.

Yes, thank you. I wasn't really claiming anything else. Just sharing what I thought was interesting poll results after CW said their customers want a 36mm Sealander.

But that's 52% that wanted smaller than 40mm opposed to 48% wanting larger. I can see that if they made all sizes that they would sell more of it as a 41mm than they would a any other size. It also shows that if a larger variety of sizes were available then more people would buy smaller which hints to me a trend towards smaller watches.
