Is this a scratch on the crystal or the AR coating of my C63?

Hi all, I have been a happy owner of the new C63 for a couple of weeks, but today my watch took a knock against a door handle as I was walking past and now I appear to have a scratch between the 1 and 2 o'clock indices.
I was surprised because sapphire should not scratch that easily, but then I remembered that some watches have AR coatings applied to the outside of the crystal as well.
Is that what this is, do you think? Or should I send it in for repair?

I'm only able to look at it on my phone at the moment, but it looks more like residual from the door handle, as opposed to a scratch.
As to which side of the crystal has the AR coating. I'm sorry but I don't know.

Thanks, Guy.
Yes, at first glance of the photo above it does look somewhat like a dark residue, however that is because it's tricky to capture with a camera, so that's the angle from where it's most visible.
Head on, I looks like this:
So it's definitely a scratch of some sort as opposed to something residual from the door.

Ah ha.
I can see it better now and am, sadly, inclined to agree it's a scratch.
I'll suggest two options;-
1. Live with it, or
2. Back to CW for a replacement crystal.

Damn, that's what I thought.
It's odd, though, isn't it?
I wouldn't have thought sapphire would scratch that easily. My other watch, which I've worn daily for 5 years, has taken plenty of knocks of similar force and the crystal still looks flawless.

Time to replace your diamond doorknobs with gold, or even steel maybe.

And live like a pauper? Never!
Joking aside, CW repairs have confirmed that only the underside of the crystal is coated with AR.
I'll be returning my watch to have it repaired.

Or place your wrist behind your back, crystal forward whenever you pass through a doorway. I’d do that. No, I really do. I also wrap my watch arm in a blanket if I’m sleeping on a plane, not that that’s happened for 15 months.

Given, I would try a good clean up before you return it. As you say it
isunusual for sapphire to scratch like that.

Of course, that was the first thing I tried.
I'm 100% sure it's a scratch on the crystal.

Update - here's what the repair team responded with:
Many thanks for returning your watch to us for repair. It has been thoroughly inspected by our technicians, who have diagnosed the following issue:
- new crystal
The cost of completing the recommended repair is £47.40. Our current turnaround time for repairs of this nature is 8-10 weeks.
Am I being unreasonable I'm thinking this should be covered by the warranty? There's no explanation as to how the sapphire crystal was scratches by a door handle, either.

I wouldn't expect the warranty to cover this, it isn't an insurance policy.

I suppose.
Shame the crystal can't stand up to a run-of-the-mill bump, either way.

By your own admission in your first post "clonked it on a door handle". Self-inflicted and most certainly not a warranty item.
Moreover, the repair cost is entirely reasonable, especially as CW are covering the cost of postage both ways.

Sure, the cost of repair is reasonable.
I didn't expect sapphire crystal to marr so easily, is all.
