It's time the tale were told: From disaster to excellence
DHL lost my C8PR!
I shipped it back for a warranty repair on 20th April and was somewhat concerned because the tracking didn't get updated, finally CW informed me that DHL had reported to them as lost. In 40 years of using DHL, this had never happened to me before, CW CS were also shocked as it had never happened to them either. My beloved and presumably irreplaceable C8 gone for good - surely half-inched somewhere.
No questions asked, CW immediately offered me a new one!
Not only was I surprised that they did so, but also that they even had one.
To cut a long story short it arrived today on a (my choice) red/black hybrid, brand spanking new with all the trimmings - the only minor downside being no accompanying COSC certificate, but since I do not plan on ever parting with it and much more important was getting a replacement, no big deal.
Many thanks to Megan at CW CS for pulling it all together - full credit where due and I am well chuffed to have a C8PR back on my wrist!
PS the hybrid is very nice, suits well too IMHO.

A better story could not be told, one of the many reasons why I am CW fan.

Great outcome, there. Now that really is outstanding CS. Thank God you weren't using oops (UPS), this episode might have gone on to cement their rep.

There’s a lot to be said for good old Royal Mail, though I wouldn’t know about Deutsche Post.

That’s outstanding customer service. The red hybrid is an excellent strap to pair it with.

Well that is definitely a happy ending. Well done CW. It's a superb watch - I have mine on exactly the same hybrid strap - it's a great combination.
Enjoy!

Glad for the happy ending! I’m surprised that they had one to give to you though.

Amazing story. Kudos to CW!
Time and money? I’ve spent most of mine on booze and women. The rest I just wasted…

Good result Nik. Fortunate that CW were able to find a replacement to send you.
In sending your watch back to CW via DHL for the warranty repair, did the delivery risk sit with you or CW?

I guess now we know who took over Wera's office with the sofa in it!

Congratulations on the good outcome for you. It’s amazing there was a replacement available. I’m surprised DHL has not lost more watches - not that I want them to! My experience with DHL here in the States has been very subpar.

I was shocked to read one of of your favourite watches had been lost....but then relieved to read that CW came through very quickly with a replacement, excellent CS and luckily they had one down the back of the proverbial sofa!

Re: It's time the tale were told: From disaster to excellence
Thank you gentlemen for your comments but all congrats must belong to CW - Andrew nailed it: Outstanding!
Follow up note:
Strangely, the watch lost 5 minutes in the first nine hours I wore it, so I reset and this morning it's spot on. I had the same experience when my C1 arrived in January and that has happened previously with incomers. I know we've said it before but one really must give new arrivals a grace period before panicking......
For an aviator, the serial number is nicely pertinent: 727!
