CW with cathedral hands...
CW with cathedral hands...
I'm loving my C65....but looking for my second upscale non-dive watch.......I'm really getting into models with cathedral hands......not a big fan of the current Oris Big Crown Pointer Date model.....think it is not worth the price point.......maybe if it was less than $1K and prefer the old texture dials with the applied indices......
Not interested in Seiko's Alpinist....as I prefer sapphire.
I was looking at the CWArchives and didn't find a CW model with cathedral hands......if I missed it, please let me know.....
In the meantime....any suggestions? who knows maybe CW has one in the works using their C65 platform....now that would be grand...

Re: CW with cathedral hands...
Never say never, but I just don't see CW going down this track. I don't think it would fit in with the design language to which they aspire currently. I know that they have done "faux-vintage" with a few designs (usually the Old Radium/Caramac lume). But I think this would be a step too far.
A few years ago I would have backed your case, but my own views have changed. Nowadays I tend to think that if you want a watch that looks old, buy an old watch.
I do in fact have a wristwatch with Cathedral (Poire-Squelette) hands. I don't wear it much. It's 104 years old.

Re: CW with cathedral hands...
A Sarb017 has a sapphire crystal, as do all of the new Alpinist models released in 2020 and 2021...

Re: CW with cathedral hands...
I always saw the C60 mark 1 hands as giving a pretty strong nod to cathedral hands anyway (as well, of course, as referencing the Mercedes hands). So as CW have moved on from the mark 1 hands I can’t see them revisiting that style. Might always be wrong!
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

@Lu.. - CW? Cathedral hands?
Easily overlooked as it's a niche appeal 100 piece limited edition, but you missed the C8 Al Deere TMB Limited Edition

Re: CW with cathedral hands...
^^^^There was indeed, both watches having the clock from a Spitfire as reference for their design.
I therefore feel that CW are unlikely to produce an open series watch with Cathedral hands.

Re: CW with cathedral hands...
If you don't like the Alpinist, fair enough, but it DOES have sapphire crystal. Not interested in Seiko's Alpinist....as I prefer sapphire
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left
Re: CW with cathedral hands...
You are right...it does have a sapphire.......but not a fan of that rotating internal bezel and the 2 crowns......I know they have the mini Alpinist, but it would look tiny on my wrist.....I do like that tic toc limited edition, SZSB006.......but prices are ridiculous and that one has a mineral crystal....exHowfener wrote: ↑Sun Apr 11, 2021 12:05 amIf you don't like the Alpinist, fair enough, but it DOES have sapphire crystal. Not interested in Seiko's Alpinist....as I prefer sapphire
Just checked if a C8 was available in ebay....but struck out.....the one Guy has is nice....manual wind (I like that more than autos)......thin....sapphire.....and best of all, it's a CW !!!
