New Arrival - The difference a bezel makes

Post by Soporsche »

New arrival today :D , I have attempted a 'slightly' smaller size before 39-41mm as opposed to my usual 42-44mm but always ended up flipping these quite quickly as I just felt they looked too small.
However, I realise that this was largely perception based on what my mind was used to.
So, after admiring for a while, pulled the trigger on the c65 Auto red bezel as a unplanned birthday present to myself.
Verdict, its an immediate hit and I'm convinced this will be staying long term.
The case is of course familiar but I find the coloured bezel really lifts the design, impacts the perceived size, contrasts beautifully with the matt black dial and works so well with the retro lume dots. The whole thing comes together very well (for me) and Im sure it will get plenty of wrist time.

Very much in the same situation as you Stephen in as much as I have attempted a 'slightly' smaller size before 39-41mm as opposed to my usual 42-44mm but always ended up flipping these quite quickly as I just felt they looked too small.
In the past I have tried different straps or bracelets to make a watch appear to wear larger with a certain amount of success.
However, I'm extremely interested to read your perception
This potentially opens up a whole new realm of possibilities :-k
Thanks for sharing.

BTW: Lovely retro C65 Trident

That’s a nice option - the thinner bezel of the C65 means that the red remains almost as an accent, rather than dominating the way wider bezels can. Both are fine; it just depends on what you want.

Of course, the thinner bezel also means a comparatively larger dial for a given watch diameter, and bigger dials make a watch look ... tada... bigger on the wrist. Personally, I find the C65 to be a very nice size.

That looks great. I like the C65 case and find it a good size and comfortable. That version will always be on my 'possible' list

Was typing a response and saw that Gary eloquently nailed it, above.
I do also think also the colour of bezel in relation to case/bracelet or strap/dial colour also has a visual impact of reducing or expanding the look. Ill have a play with strap options too and see how it looks.

Thanks for the comments.
Had a play, just to get a feel for the options, none of these work well for me (especially the croc prints) but they were laying around and the QR bracelet is a godsend 😊

Its back on the bracelet which works best at the moment but also considering a heavy milanese or light dive mesh as options.

I think the third one down, the dark brown strap, doesn’t look too bad. The strap seems to have hints of burgundy in it, which is a nice compliment to the bezel.

Nice pick up! A good tropic rubber strap works. The Tiber in camel would look good I think. But that really sings on the bracelet. IMO

I think that because you have a 4 colour combination going on with the watch (black, silver, red and vintage lume) you need to go for a plain(ish) strap, i.e. not croc, alligator or lizard - looking at your pics they don't work for me.
I think the bracelet works best - because it integrates into the case it visually makes the watch appear larger.
Having said that I reckon a Vintage Oak Camel leather strap would work.
Also, potentially, a black canvas webbing or black/red hybrid rubber albeit the latter may be a bit too much.

Tried the camel off my Glycine and a light brown suede, also ok.. works better than the above but bit drab.. bracelet best but ill try a mesh at some point. 1st watch in ages that I've been genuinely delighted with on arrival so thanks for indulging me 🙂
