New Arrival - The difference a bezel makes
Re: New Arrival - The difference a bezel makes
Stephen I really like the C65 case and have tried on a few different models.
My sweet spot on a watch with a twisty bezel is 40mm, although I do have others at 38-42mm that I am comfortable with.
My view is that the narrow bezel makes the dial look larger. Even more so with minimal markings on the bezel and dial.
Too large for my preference. But in your situation, with a preference for slightly larger watches, the reason that it is for you visually a wearable size.
However for me that was solved by buying the Dartmouth. More markings on both the bezel and dial, meaning that what my mind sees as dial is reduced to the size that I prefer.
Another example of having to look beyond the case size, before ruling a watch in or out.

So very true. My C65 AM GT LE at 41mm wears bigger to me than my Seiko Sea Urchin at 42mm. It’s all down to the bezel to dial ratio.

Congratulations Stephen
That is a seriously cool looking watch mate.
I was very keen to buy this exact version of the C65 Automatic recently but I felt as I had the C65 Pepsi GMT it was too similar.
Very good photos of it too, worthy of the reference gallery for this version for sure.

Case size, bezel/dial relative sizes and lug-to-lug size are all vital for the actual size of a watch.
I’m glad this one is working for you, wear in good health and keep safe.

Love mine. Usually wear 42-44mm but this looks so good on the arm. It is definitely a keeper.

Re: New Arrival - The difference a bezel makes
Top notch purchase and birthday present Stephen. Enjoy it.
The red bezel is a lovely pop of colour and it sits well on the bracelet.
As to straps, you're right with your experiments not looking right. My recommendation would be for a Camel CW vintage oak, which ought to tone with the vintage lume.
Good luck.

Re: New Arrival - The difference a bezel makes
Sharp watch. I’m not feeling any of the straps though. I think a sailcloth is going to work best. Maybe even NATO.
Re: New Arrival - The difference a bezel makes
CW do the black and red hybrid strap that might work well with that.
