CWarchive and watch retirement dates

Post by undetterred »

How accurate are the retirement dates within the archive sections?
Some watches are still available for sale at CW,yet have passed the retirement date within the archive details.

The CWA retirement dates are based on the date they were no longer listed on the website and slated for clearance or sold out. It has nothing to do with when the last unit was sold in some cases.

Example: The C9 ME 109 SPC was retired in November 2018. However, this model was such a slow seller that the inventory remained in clearance sales for the past 2 + years.

Example: The C65 Super Compressor (Black Sand) just never took off when introduced in August of 2020. It was retired in January 2021. It was immediately put into a clearance sale despite a healthy sized inventory.

Cheers Kip,good explanation, so with a piece dated 2021/02 for retirement, may get extended coverage due to sales / popularity

CW had a C9 GMT in the January 21 sale even though it was retired in 2014. Must have been some deep cleaning of the storage space. :)
