AM GT makeover

Post by simmo140 »

More formal outfit for my C65 AM GT courtesy of footycrazy straps (thanks Graham). Perfect example of two watches for the price of one.

Thanks Guy. I'll get the hang of it eventually. What did you think btw?

Black & red hybrid is fine but, bluntly (sorry) I don't like the brown with natural stitching, all a bit too chunky.

The AM GT needs a svelte (not too thick) strap. CW Vintage Oak works a treat.

One of the things I like about the C65 AM GT LE is that different straps don’t just look good on it, they can transform it! The AM GT on a bracelet feels and looks like a fundamentally different watch than when it’s on a strap. Same holds true for that leather strap vs. the hybrid. It’s exactly as you say - two for one!

The brown might be a bit too dark however that could also be the lighting. IMO the strap needs white stitching to tie into the white on the indices for my eye.

But here's what's great....all that matters it is what works for your eye and look ; and no one else has final say!!!

The Hybrid is outstanding!

Both good and impart a very different look. The hybrid looks superb!

I think the brown leather strap is an upgrade over the black & red hybrid.

The hybrid works well, as to be expected. The leather appears too dark for my liking when paired with this particular watch. Nice to see how mixing it up can rework a look.

I'm sorry but I think many of you are crazy.

The hybrid looks great on it. The brown leather, not so. You can't "formalise" a watch with a tachymeter and red all over it. It's a sports watch that belongs on a sports strap and will never look close to anything else no matter what you put on it. No intention to offend.

I'm not offended but do wish for you to reconsider your stance.

The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch (like the AM GT is a Black dial, white indices and tachymetre) is one of the most strap accepting watches next to Panerai on the planet!

Perhaps to help out the OP, @jkbarnes might post a picture here of his CW AM GT on a brown strap as well?

Just my opinion and candidly all that matters is @simmo140's opinion versus mine :D

The speedy is indeed a strap monster. It's monotone colours help it no end though and it doesn't have red splashed all over it.

The watch in question on this thread is not a speedy. I'm sorry, but it's never going dress up.

It was an experiment which, in the end, I decided didn't work, so it's back on the hybrid. You have to try these things or you'll never know.

It looked ok, but I think it looks much better on the black/red hybrid

I did the reverse yesterday... moved my C8 PR from it's tan tiber leather strap (which looks good anyway being a pilot watch) onto the black/red hybrid... changes the look of the watch and I think works like your AM GT. The colour scheme on both dials are quite similar :D

This wouldn't of course work for the black DLC variant of the C8 PR though in my option.
