It does seem odd that CW rightly emphasise the need for regular servicing, want you to use them, but don't keep spare parts in for past models
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left

Of all the models CW should have kept spares for, this would be one. It's the only case CW has ever produced that is likely to physically break. Common sense would dictate that at some point a certain number of cases would break and require replacement. Poor planning on CW's part.

Interesting read guys thanks.
I wasnt aware of the possibility of spares issues down the line. Especially within the timescales mentioned so far here.

Hope a spare or fix can be found for this one though. Would be a shame if it wasnt doable.
Fingers crossed and good luck.

Agreed poor planning on CW's part, at the time, 8 years ago when the C1000 Typhoon was conceived and produced (1st released For Sale September 2013); which, as has already been mentioned, has been reviewed and addressed by CW 18 - 24months ago.

Maybe CW aren’t too bothered about keeping spares too long. Maybe their business model is more the ‘modern way’ where things are disposable. Buy an Apple Watch for £400 and it’ll be obsolete in a few years, same with CW - buy a Trident at not much more and it’ll be obsolete in 5 or so years - cost per year roughly the same. As their target market now a days seems to be the modern ‘hipster’ crowd my theory makes sense to me - we live in a disposable world now.

Interesting way to look at it, and it wouldnt surprise me. I think its sad though if this is the case. I have a few watches I bought to enjoy, but I know ill move them on at some point.

I have others ive bought (cw's included), that i intend to keep, based upon the thought process they will be perfectly maintained and looked after, but will last for years/decades.

I hope this is the case, but now im wondering.......

I do have a tendency to look at things in an ‘interesting way’, as you put it. Others on here that have known me for a while may put how I look at things a little different to that

I don't think I've ever seen on EBay either an empty CW case or even a CW auto watch "needs new movement". I fear that you might not succeed. OTOH you will find cases for the 7750 movement both new and pre-owned and you can either drop your movement/dial/handset straight in, or commission a jeweller/watchmaker to do it for you. Your watch will look quite different, of course.

I'd recommend these people: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WATCH-CASE-D ... SwngxdVfI4 and these people https://westcoastime.com/newwatches.html

I think some of this is a bit unfair. It's one thing keeping stocks of things that might go wrong, such as crystals, crowns, winding stems, and internal movement parts. Maybe hands, indices and disks, but a watch case must be a rare thing to be replaced in its entirety. I just checked the archive, but I can't tell whether these were limited editions or not, but the number sold might affect the spare parts availability.

Totally agree with this.

How often is there this type of damage to a watch? I guess this in some way links back to the longevity and brand identity where a case is used with slight variants etc over a period of time. To carry that much spares and stock for old models which were so diverse is never going to happen but this will no doubt improve as the product range lessens or case types are more common.

Just looked it up and Worn and Wound video states - "I believe it can shatter, but they actually claim this to be virtually indestructible, it's their words on their site...

Hopefully it was a very clean break and a cosmetic repair can take place. Good luck.

Ceramic watch cases break when dropped. Any reasonable person would expect a ceramic case to be a high replacement item on par with crowns and crystals. This is not a standard SS case, it's an uncommon, high-priced, but ultimately fragile specialty item, that should have been better supported.

Better supported perhaps but how? Keep an infinite number of replacement cases in stock or have a specialist company on standby ready to produce a replacement case on demand?

The C1000 was certainly a limited numbers watch whether advertised as such or not.

And this is NOT the first instance reported in this forum of a C1000 being dropped and a lug breaking off.

I'm not technologically aware enough to say whether a repair will be durable or not. I'd like to point out that even Seiko, that great mass-market brand behemoth, cease to offer replacement parts and servicing of their watch models after a period of time.

I look forward to hearing what the OP decides to do. My thoughts are firmly down the route of dropping the mech/dial/handset into a new watch case. PVD black would look good.
