Which watch for Christmas
OK I admit I spend more time picking out a watch for an event than my wife does putting on make up. In order to save time, maybe you can help. These are my current watches in rotation right now.
Re: Which watch for Christmas
Whilst I can’t offer advice on which of your watches to wear, I can help with the often mentioned dilemma of “which watch for Christmas” that regularly appears at this time of year.
Think laterally!
- One for cooking duties
- One for present unwrapping and general duties
- One for a walk
- One for sitting down to lunch.
Simples!

Now that is a great idea. Changing the watch with each activity. I wonder if I can find a small watch roll that will fit in the inside pocket of my sport coat

No big deal. Will decide in the morning. Probably the Speedmaster. Default choice.
Ah...and from your collection I might choose the little black-dial Bulova.

Yes, the Speedmaster is my favorite, but I show it off way too much, which is kind of pretentious on my part. I need to wear something else, to show I have other watches.

Which one Andrew, the white dial to the left or the black dial? It is funny how a decade ago, it was huge watches, I have to say it is nice to wear a small watch that you barely even notice. Although with my eyesight dimming, I have trouble seeing it.

Yes, unlike the other two, it has been restored. The white dial 1928 still has the radium dial on it. Someone told me that if I held a meter to the watch it would read slight radiation.

C65 Black and Gold - very christmassy
In my case it's going to be a Seamaster GMT. White hands, red numbers... it just needs a green strap

Thanks for the input, I guess it will be the black bulova banker. Horatio, that watch distinctive and stands out in a great way. What year is that watch?

Re: Which watch for Christmas
1997. It's a Zenith Chronomaster, 655 movement. 36x8mm, LTL 42mm. Whenever I wear it these days, it always starts by seeming too small. By the end of an evening it feels just right despite my 7.8" wrist. Of course, back then 36mm was full size for a man's watch. I used to have a 34mm Blancpain for dress and never felt it was small. Times change but not necessarily for the better....the fish guy wrote: ↑Thu Dec 24, 2020 6:39 pm Thanks for the input, I guess it will be the black bulova banker. Ebels are a lot like women that lack a lowcut dress that zips up the side..neither gets the love that they deserve..
