Agree on the tone, at least they didn't use their other favourite tagline of DO YOUR RESEARCH to really drive the message home.

Oh. My. God.
That may play better to a UK audience but... if they were going for cheesy, they did it well.

I rather like it.
But that's not good news as I'm not target audience being old, white, middle england and a bit of a blimp.

There's always time for one more.

I actually thought the hammy British accent would sounds better outside the U.K. Seems it's jarring across bordersFloridaPhil wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 2:01 pm Oh. My. God.

Re: CW's first TV Advert
It looks like a something you'd see on Facebook, but not for TV.
I want waves crashing all around it as it sits gracefully on the water's edge, half-covered in soft white sand being pounded by the midday sun.

Crashing waves you say? NeilStrappedUp wrote: ↑Thu Apr 30, 2020 2:41 pm It looks like a something you'd see on Facebook, but not for TV.

That caused quite a stir back in 1953.
Great year as well.

I’m glad you put the link up, Guy. Otherwise I might have had to switch the television on. Oh wait a minute though, I don’t have sky!

Re: CW's first TV Advert
Goodness me, that's hilarious! It comes across as a parody of Pathe News mixed with a little bit of Terry Thomas describing the latest discussions with 'those Swiss chappies'. I'm sure the PR guys have done their research for the demographics they're appealing to, but it sure tells me that I'm not the target audience.

Re: CW's first TV Advert
My wife thought it was a joke advert, like those parody ones on YouTube.

Re: CW's first TV Advert
Absolutely splendid. How jolly decent to hear a good dollop of the old RP instead of the whiny, chirpy, dodgy or impenetrable accents we are usually bombarded with.
Good show, CW. Carry on that man!

Re: CW's first TV Advert
Theres lots of marketing analysis that can be applied to the 'tone of voice' used in the ad and I don't just mean the actual tone of his voice: tone/accent, pitch, language, specific words, phrasing and emphasis.
Based on market intelligence, the output will be deliberate and designed to appeal (at an emotional level) to a given demographic and convey the desired messages, values and proposition.
Given that CW got the above right, and we can only assume they understand their target market very well, I think its a decent first go at TV advertising.

Re: CW's first TV Advert
It's a good job I already know the brand else, watching that, I'd be turned away from them straight away thinking 'who are these clowns'. The visual isn't that bad but that voice over?! It's 1st May, not April!
