Don't worry, I might change my mind. But this crown thing with the 38 doesn't give me the warm fuzzies, so I'd have to wait and give another one a try. We'll see.

I guess it might be a good excuse to try a 38mm in blue, but skip the bracelet and wear it on a nato. Without half links I'm not going to be able to do the bracelet on the 38.

Some great pictures there! The 38mm is the 'proper' fit for sure, but the 40mm looks more modern and is the better watch. If you don't mind the bigger size I think it looks perfect and stylish on you.

Quick aside: I guess part of what we're paying for (or not paying for in this case) is tighter tolerance controls in manufacturing. My 40 has very little bezel back play, the 38 has a lot. The bezel on the 40 rocks a bit (say, if you press down at 12 then at 6), the 38 has none. The bracelet clasp on the 40 is great, the one on the 38 is pretty bad (maybe it'll break in, but it's a bear to close).

Cheers. Yeah, I'd agree with all that. Probably a good excuse to own both sizes...

I can't believe Omega gets away with only pumping out 42mm Seamaster 300M's. Knowing how much bigger the 40 is relative to the 38, the 42 must look like a flying saucer.

Either way, you've still got a great watch.
By the way, both the 38 and 40 show a gap. I'm chicken bone thin, so case backs don't depress into my arm at all, so unless the lugs of a watch actually drop 2mm+ below the case back, watches always look slightly 'lifted' on me.

Looks like the 40mm.

Sits well on your wrist.

You guys are good at this. When I first saw them I couldn't tell, until I realized they were taken before the 38 arrived.

While I had it with me, I couldn't resist trying a NATO on the 38. I have to say, here it really shines. The weight is just nothing, and the fit is perfect. For some reason I really prefer the 40 on the bracelet, I tried it on the NATO and it just seemed to make the watch feel bigger. But the 38 I love it on.

That definitely works very well with that strap.

Omega actually made the 300M bigger in 2018. It used to be 41mm and is now 42mm. Perhaps Omega didn't read the memo or don't follow all the YouTubers who claim that (a) 36mm (Rolex) is the perfect size (for adolescents) watch. The white dial/black bezel does wear smaller than the other versions.

My wrist is 6.75 inches. The real issue for me is lug tip - to - lug tip length where anything more than 53mm tends to be a problem.

I have zero issue with them making 42's. It's perfect for lots of guys. What makes no sense to me is not offering the same model in something smaller.

As I recall the co-axial 8900 movement is large and means that they can't offer a smaller version with this movement. They would probably have to fit the Calibre 8800 which allows smaller cases. Maybe they'll release smaller versions as the Ref 210 (post-2018) range matures.

Here's hoping, I'd love one in a 39.
