Re: Oyster Card vs Day Travel Pass?
jkbarnes Drew, I'm sure you've discussed things to do in London, and you will get better advice from loads of others I'm sure, but you can see loads of fantastic things in London without needing to pay. Museums, the National Gallery, Royal Observatory at Greenwich, even the Pelicans (and squirrels)...

Re: A Cycling Thread (Professional)
Yes, my brother in law was in Brittany and happened to be in whichever town it was for the start of a stage. He said there was a lot of colour, with all the publicity caravans and so on, although he didn't really see any part of the race. They have a slow rollout (depart fictif) of several miles to ...

Re: A Cycling Thread (Professional)
I'm not sure it's really worth it, Drew 2 years ago, I was staying where I am this week, and the tour of Britain came past. We waited about an hour, watching police motorbikes clear the road with a moving roadblock, and then the riders flashed past. And that was it. Here's a picture I got of Julian ...

A Cycling Thread (Professional)
Saturday 3rd, and Tour De France starts. Probably on Channel 4, or ITV4, but every stage in full on Eurosport, and Discovery/GCN also. This should be fantastic. Tadez Pogacar against Jonas Vingegaard. I thought Pogacar should have won last year, but instead of just marking Vingegaard, he was double ...

Re: Customer Service?
Stuff from China seems to get here very quickly now. I just bought a strap and a tool from china and they arrived within a couple of weeks. I bought a watch in the Ali X sale just before I came away on holiday thinking I would be back before it arrived, but it came within 10 days. I think it was del...

Re: The most overpriced watches…
On reflection, I think Ratner was hard done by, for a throwaway comment. The same applied to every jeweller. The thing is gold is about £1600 an ounce now, so £50 a gram, so 9c gold is £18 a gram. So a ring or chain can have at most 3 or 4 grans of 9c gold, and it's still going to cost around £50 to...

Re: Almost D-day for my Wales trip!
Have a great trip, Drew. We're just coming to the end of a fabulous spell of weather here. We've been in Cornwall for nearly a fortnight and the weather has been as good as we have ever had down here. Hopefully the next good spell will be along in a few days for you.

Re: Almost D-day for my Wales trip!
Have a fantastic trip, hope you make lots of good memories and enjoy every minute. You're an experienced driver and sure will be fine.. After first hour of looking to the right for approaching traffic on roundabouts it will become second nature 😉, also on roundabouts if not taking the 1st exit (whe...

Green day today
Green Levi's Cap. 3rd change Leicester football shorts, with a green stripe, Green CW, and out of shot, a pale green Celtic football shirt, either 2nd or 3rd change, I forget which.

I really enjoyed reading your review, it certainly made for an interesting read. I’m on a self-imposed watch buying ban (two bathrooms need renovating ☹️), otherwise the photos on your thread, and those on a similar thread from another contributor, would have me reaching for my wallet. Lovely watch...

Re: Are these UK coins still usable?
Yes, the pound is now a small twelve. The round pounds might fit in some supermarket trollies. 8 pounds is about 10 dollars so it might be worth changing them if a bank will do so. (If you are lucky enough to find a bank). Interestingly In the good old days when Britain wasn't quite top nation, but ...
