Re: Tide vs C60 Pro height

Thanks both. So on the pro 600 does the crystal also stand proud of the bezel? It does on the #tide (which I got last week) so I was speculating that this was the diff.

Tide vs C60 Pro height

Happy Saturday!

I've seen on the CW site that the Tide is about 0.7mm thicker than the 42mm C60 pro (~5%). Does anyone have a theory for why that may be? Is the crystal more domed on the former, or perhaps the bezel smaller?

Interesting to see a difference as lug to lug is the same.

Re: Buying on ebay - tips for a dummy

As someone who has bought (and sold) dozens of CW on eBay, with a few precautions as you have been advised already, it is probably the safest was to buy pre-owned (I do enjoy using the forum sales more, interacting with fellow CW fans is part of the experience). EBay’s money back guarantee is very ...

Re: Buying on ebay - tips for a dummy

Don't over think it, check the sellers feedback and if it's significant and positive then there should be no issues. Ask questions before you buy and be aware it's not really a platform that does after sale care or refunds/returns. Thanks Lawrence, appreciated. So if something arrives broken or not...

Re: Buying on ebay - tips for a dummy

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but many ebay sellers drop-ship from Amazon - so always check Amazon before you buy on ebay. Not necessarily as relevant for watch purchases, but for cheaper stuff. We've had it a few times where we have bought on ebay and Amazon Prime delivers the following day. :l...

Buying on ebay - tips for a dummy

Evening all, I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a CW watch on ebay. Can I shamelessly ask if anyone has any expert tips or "watch outs" as I've never bought anything for more than about twenty quid from a private seller before! Just want to make sure I have asked everything I should be...

Re: Regulation recommendation

Thanks both. The watch is maybe 20 years old, but never really been worn. I will take a look at that link, Kip By now the oils have either congealed or evaporated both causing poor time keeping. This will happen regardless of wear time. I am sure they will suggest a full cleaning and service. Only ...

Regulation recommendation

Hi All

Can anyone recommend a watch maker/horologist in the London area who can regulate automatic watches? I have an old Tag Heuer that is running somewhat slow. I want to have it looked at if possible (as distinct from a complete service).

Thanks
Tim

Re: Used vs new prices

The Archive data is a helpful start, but as you can see among various watches, prices fluctuate and asking prices may have quite a range. In the space of just a few months, one model of CW I bought used has been listed at anywhere from 20% over what I paid, to one listed for about 25% below what I ...

Re: Used vs new prices

Yes, the purported Rolex scenario at the moment puts me in mind of bitcoin or tulips since with watches the underlying value is a lot lower than the notional market value. Difference being that mechanical watches are to my mind at least a bit magical.

Re: Used vs new prices

Thanks, Kip. That does make sense but I couldn't see where (i) the age of the watch was at point of sale and (ii) the new price at point of sale. However, I can see what that data isn't at all trackable so I now recognise I'm asking for the moon on a stick. I guess it's a bit like the antique market...

Re: Used vs new prices

You mention not being able to post in Sales Corner, Tim. That’s not so important. You can of course see it by now, and another of the rules is that all negotiations including offers and the swapping of addresses and bank details must be done via PM or email, definitely not on the thread. Noted! I h...

Watch Accuracy Meter

Hi everyone, Posting this just in case people haven't heard of this and/or haven't got a better alternative as I'm conscious I'm mainly "taking" information and not "giving" much so far. I found an app called "watch accuracy meter" which seems to do a pretty good job of...
