Re: This made me chuckle!

My parents had a set from 1965 that I used through school. I few years ago my mother couldn’t even give it away and it got recycled. Wish I’d kept the atlas and maps that were part of the set: nostalgia for countries that no longer exist, etc.

Result? Most of them can’t even look up words in alphabetical order anymore.

Yes, I know, I’m a dinosaur.
You mean the alphabet doesn’t begin with QWERTY? :p

Re: Inspiration4

It’s quite an exciting and amazing effort. I’ve been interested in space and rockets since my earliest days. I have a bit of a time advantage being in the eastern zone of the US. Wishing them well! I’ll be watching.

Re: Solution to the expensive problem of watch collecting

I’ve dabbled over the years with simple tasks, more the maintenance and upkeep, rather than repairs and restoration. I’d like to learn more of the innards of mechanical watches but I don’t see myself really investing the effort. Much like my guitar playing.

Re: Used vs new prices

^^^ No, it’s not to make it easier. :) Either way, Kip needs to convert local sales into one currency or the other, so it makes no difference. Fact is, the history data we had was all in USD… We did discuss storing all sales in actual currency together with the prevailing exchange rates. We would t...

I got the survey and submitted my responses. I only have two SH21 powered watches so far.

Re: Used vs new prices

This is one of the C7 Rapide line, which had been discontinued a few years back. I only got it a few months ago. I’m not sure if the model had been part of the sale.

Re: Incoming: arrival and reveal

The red strap is from Vario SG - an Italian leather with a bright stainless pin buckle. The C1 came on a black leather, but it called for something brighter especially with the red accenting (date pointer and power indicator) on the dial.

I was beginning to think I had the only one.

Top notch purchase.

Thanks! I didn’t reveal it because I hadn’t received it. I posted about the watch’s journey in General Discussion.

Incoming: arrival and reveal

The long and winding road of a ten thousand mile journey has ended. I, too, was lucky enough to spy and buy the C1 Powerglow in the prototype sale in July. Unlike Guy, I live in the USA. My prototype took a much longer journey in both time and space to finally reach me. With the sale being at the en...

Re: Used vs new prices

The Archive data is a helpful start, but as you can see among various watches, prices fluctuate and asking prices may have quite a range. In the space of just a few months, one model of CW I bought used has been listed at anywhere from 20% over what I paid, to one listed for about 25% below what I p...
