Re: The Alliance of British Watch & Clock Makers

I struggle to see how a number of British watchmakers can share components. Are they all going to make identical watches of identical size with the same crystal and case backs? I can't think many components would be common between manufacturers.

Re: My Dog Sighs has arrived....

The box is neat as well. I wonder if all 50 boxes are the same, or whether the box matches the watch?

Re: My Dog Sighs has arrived....

Number 1 is certainly a good idea. As well as being a great watch you just never know about the investment potential.

Re: The watch weigh-in

Just one. I was surprised by the lightness of an eterna dress watch I have. It's on a bracelet but feels so light. Other than that, I can't say I have been surprised by the weight of a watch.

Apropos The C63 Sealander GMT

Interesting JOMW comparison of a Rolex and Pagani Explorer GMT

It would certainly be interesting to see Jody's review of the Sealander equivalent.

Re: Batons or Blobs....?

Either - I suppose I have a slight preference for batons, but it's not an issue. I am happy with index markers rather than numbers, and definitely prefer to avoid Roman numbers, but it depends on the watch.

Re: C63 Sealander Collection

Bracelets. I think CW now use a standard bracelet and just add different endlinks as required. In which case they all have a quick release system for attaching the strap, and an integral no-tool size adjustment to the clasp. The clasp is a single fold milled clasp, with push button release. The remo...

Re: C63 Sealander Collection

@richtea I think I feel the same Rich. I am wearing my C65 handwound today, and it's just right for me at 41mm. 39mm is on the small side for my wrist, and although I can wear 39mm, I prefer a bigger watch. Its all very well watch sizes getting smaller, but people are getting bigger, and I don't bel...

I assume the item was bought in the sale in January, and therefore has been sold at a profit.

Re: The Curmudgeons Corner

If we are talking gamesmanship at the snooker, then if Selby knew he got an improved lie by the ref placing the white in the wrong place, that really is as unsporting as they come.

Edit. I am glad Shawn won that frame, but I think the above point might leave some tension.

As the camera scans round the crucible you can see people without masks. Just why aren't they ejected instantly. It really is disgusting.

Re: Screw down case backs.

Ferg I loath the Jaxa type case tools. In my (admittedly limited) experience the three prong ones are difficult to locate and keep tightly in position on the caseback slots. The two prong types are better and you can exert more pressure, if necessary with a wrench. Better yet are the professional m...
