Re: Stick or twist - What next after 'Trusty Steed' Kevin?

mini countryman vs discovery/RR = nearly the same size! are you on glue
Range Rover Evoque: 4371mm long. 1904mm wide.
MINI Countryman: 4299mm long, 1822mm wide.

What sort of glue do you think I'm on?

Re: Does this bother anyone else?

My view? Pretty much the same as stated above: By asking the question, you probably already know the answer. And it doesn't really matter how many people say that it wouldn't bother them, it's your watch (or not!). Democracy is wonderful, but it isn't always appropriate.

Re: Stick or twist - What next after 'Trusty Steed' Kevin?

What would I do if I were you? Well, I'd do what you would do! If it was me, then I like to keep cars, so I'd keep "Kevin" (my second/hobby 'car' is a 41 year old Land Rover). That's a bit boring though, so if you want something newer on the drive, with a powerful engine and 4X4 then the o...

Re: Free limited edition AM GT 1VEV CW watch up for grabs

"Deks", it's so good to hear that you are through your operation and on the road to recovery. Take time to get yourself better and don't rush things. We all need money to live, but work really isn't that important. It took me quite a while to realise that and it can be a hard lesson. Remem...

Re: Retirement Countdown

No one has commented on the actual number, I'm not sure that anyone would celebrate being invaded (twice!) by a foreign power  Joking aside, (and it was a joke) I took early retirement at 55 and have never regretted it for a minute. I now do a bit of gardening and it's quite hard work at times...

Re: Scuffed Strap

If you're going down the shoe polish route (I would too), then Saphir do a dedicated cordovan leather polish. Not the cheapest, but top quality stuff across the range.

Re: Trident second hand

^^^ I once knew a bloke who's wife never cut the swing tag off dresses so she could wear them and take them back to the shop. He seemed quite proud of that, and was genuinely puzzled by the response of the people he told the story to.

Re: Trident second hand

I know that this topic comes up quite often but surely the 60:60 is really the chance to examine the watch as you would in a shop? I wouldn't buy a watch from a jeweller, wear it for a night out, go swimming in the sea while wearing it and then expect to take it back for a full refund unless it was ...

Re: Most secure way to attach to wrist while swimming

Some years ago, "Animal" used to make velcro straps in a variety of materials and they were brilliant as they always fitted really well and were very secure on the wrist. From the comment above, surely the real purpose of a NATO strap is to fit an actual military watch with solid springbars?

Being retired is wonderful. Welcome to the club! Just try not to be one of those people who is constantly going back to their former workplace, it's amazing how unimportant it all seems after a short while.

A very short while in my case - I hated the place!

If the world’s population keeps increasing at this exponential rate, in the coming decades
If the world's population does keep increasing, and it seems almost inevitable, then I'm not sure that the best use for plants will be making watch straps - they may be needed for food.

Re: Are You Willing To Say Goodbye...

On dragons den this week, a guy came in said that chewing gum contained a lot of non bio degradable plastic I've seen recycling bins for used chewing gum in Manchester. I am mot going to stop wearing leather shoes & boots, nor eating meat so it would be odd to stop wearing leather watch straps....

Re: Watch safety

There are a number of good suggestions here and contained within them are the answer. Clearly - as you are going away for some time, dogs aren't the answer in this instance. Personally I would favour the cunning hiding place, even in a small house there are many but I won't list them here for obviou...
