Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread

Oh my God, I'm developing an unhealthy obsession with this watch, too. I say too because I'm pretty sure you have Chris. I love the way the fixed bezel and strap combine, and I have no issue with the thread of the screws pointing in different directions, I actually like it. Please, please, please, n...

Re: My summer project

That's a very nice idea: I'll be really interested to see how that finishes up looking. You'll need to make room to hold a small thermos that can take a quantity if ice cubes, just enough for a couple of drinks (each). Perhaps you could store that in one of the pouches inside the lid. All you'...

Re: If CW was a car brand, which would it be?

Funnily enough, when I saw this I immediately thought Skoda. Solid performer at a fair price. Good, reliable engine under the bonnet; but is ridiculed, in many corners, over its less than desirable badge.

What a stunning watch that is. I think CW is missing a trick by not offering more watches like this, surely there is a market for them. Not everyone is in the market for a diver, just ask Longines.

Re: Found my grail but what do you make of this?

^^ ^^ You know, the more I look at different watches and different brands, the more I don't want to rush my choices. I haven't bought a new watch in over two and a half years. I've thought I've seen the next addition only to hold fire. I have a loose kind of shortlist for the next, down to about 5/6...

Re: Found my grail but what do you make of this?

Well Chris, your grail would be a grail for me too. It's the Santos all the way - the first pilot's watch I believe. History and elan. Get the auto, not the quartz, personally I would never spend more than £500 tops on a quartz, at least I haven't so far. Grails should not be easy to attain, as you ...

Re: New Arrival - Sinn 104 Green

Last watch purchase for me was the Certina DS PH200m reissue right about 2 years ago. But this will be it for a while now, and I’ll also likely get rid of the Certina. Just curious what you thought to the Certina as you say you're likely to get rid of it? I've looked at it a number of times and it ...

Very nice indeed. I think all the 104 colour variations are great, it makes for a tough choice. After seeing this photo I now also like the green.

Re: New arrival - Father’s Day Omega

Wow, that's a spectacular watch, Alex, congratulations. Love the gunmetal silver with the yellow accents. I'd love to own an Omega one day, as much for the box as the watch, they're things of beauty. You have quite a back story there, too, which will always be inextricably linked to the watch. Delig...

A fine looking watch, Patrick. Goes great with the shirt, or should that be the shirt goes great with the watch. Either way, eh!

Re: C63 Elite - innovation or gimmick?

Of course it's a gimmick. Mechanical watches are a gimmick by simple analysis. A quartz watch is both more accurate and reliable, inexpensive and can be designed to look exactly like any watch currently available. So why do mechanical watches even exist? Because people want them because they are me...

Re: C63 Elite - innovation or gimmick?

I like mine. No, hang on, I really, really LOVE mine! First off is the titanium case. I’ve never owned a titanium, mechanical watch before and each time I pick it up, each time I swing my wrist I totally adore how light it is. I wear mine on either a NATO or a custom leather strap so I’m looking at...

Yes Steve, I thought my straining eyes could make out CCCP. I really like that, it's a bit different.

Re: Making a perfect watch out of two in different condition - or is it 2 perfect watches??

That's a great story with a great outcome. I particularly like the watch, I'm assuming it's the one you've gifted to your BIL? I haven't come across the brand before, is it Soviet? I really like the crown at 5, the 4 numeral, the GS hands and that gorgeous bracelet. Thanks for sharing.
