I'd hope Damasko is on the rise, but it's impossible to tell.

If Damasko is on the rise, then it's a rare triumph of quality over marketing. I don't think Damasko even does marketing!

Re: C60 Trident Pro - Titanium

Now I've re-looked, I can't see any mention of Grade 5 on Steinhart's website. Yet there are lots of comments online about it being Grade 5 Ti; from where could they have originated?

I don't think Grade 5 Ti is scratch-proof, so I'd still expect scratches in high-wear places like the clasp.

Re: C60 Trident Pro - Titanium

I'd argue that titanium has more advantages than just its weight. It's incredibly comfortable to wear - much nicer than steel. Titanium feels warm in the cold and cool when it's hot. Unlike steel, titanium watches won't give you an itchy heat rash. And people with a nickel allergy can wear titanium,...

Re: C60 Trident Pro - Titanium

I too would love a Trident Ti ... but ... Steinhart's Ocean 500 Ti is going to take some beating. I'm sorry to say this, but I've low expectations of CW's value for money nowadays. The Ocean 500 looks terrific, has a helluva lot going for it like grade 5 titanium, and all for less money than a regul...

Re: Dear Chr Ward

An end to excessive price increases.

Even CW has a limit to its brand equity. Pricing above this point loses customers.

Re: So what's the deal with Steinhart pilots?

You're right that Steinhart used chemically blued hands. However, I'm also a Steinhart fanboy: very few brands offer such good quality for the money. Before CW hiked its prices, I'd have said both brands offered a terrific amount of watch for the money. CW used to ask hard questions of more expensiv...

Re: Steinhart Titanium Ocean 500m

I reckon the darkness of Ti is why titanium watches often look good with blue faces and bezels.

If this Ocean Titanium sells well, perhaps Steinhart will bring out a version with a nice blue face and bezel insert.

Re: Steinhart Titanium Ocean 500m

Tom, many thanks for the write up and pics. It looks superb  I think this should be a real winner for Steinhart. It's a huge amount of watch for the money. It looks handsome and, thankfully, isn't another homage. Very tempting! CW should take note, especially regarding Steinhart's pricing.

Re: New arrival - Damasko

Damaskos look and feel even better in real life. Photos can't do Damasko justice, because a picture can't convey the quality feel.

Damasko build quality is outstanding; they are clearly built to very fine tolerances.

Re: Swatch Group

If Swatch stops supplying ETA parts, that will completely shaft a huge number of people with ETA-powered watches! What happens when you need a spare part for your non-Swatch Group watch? Many CW watches use ETA movements; how will they be repaired in future?

Re: Watch weight

Like Kip, I don't mind a watch's weight. However, I love the comfort of titanium in terms of temperature. Titanium watches generally feel a lot more comfortable to wear. Now that Steinhart's introducing a premium titanium diver , I hope that CW will make more titanium watches too ... preferably Grad...

TZ UK: why so much hate?

There's a CW thread on TZ UK, which seems to be turning into an anti-CW thread. What's going on? Why so much hate for a decent British company?
