Re: My new to me Atmos

A marvelous addition! The Atmos is a fascinating timepiece. I think it's fair to say the Atmos is as close we have come to creating a perpetual motion machine.

Your Canadian neighbours also use electric kettles.

Re: New Rolex’s

I like the look of that YM! Is a sapphire caseback new for Rolex? I don’t know that I recall ever seeing one with an exhibition caseback. Not the first exhibition caseback for Rolex. It may be the first on a main line Rolex (not sure on this), but they did one on the last generation Cellini Prince....

I love everything about this except the price. A $2k watch does not magically become a $4k watch simply by adding an in-house movement.

I actually think the sailcloth is a vast improvement over the leather.

Re: the bureaucracy for shipping outside the EU is too complicated

I've purchased plenty of watches and other items from the UK (pre and post Brexit) and other EU countries. As I understand it, exporting from he EU is no different than exporting from Canada: Take packed item to post office. Complete customs declaration form (or complete online and print). Attack de...

Re: New Timex Marlin retro sub-dial

The Marlin, Q and Waterbury lines from Timex are well designed watches at a great price point. The Q chrono is one of my favourite designs of the last year.

Re: Do you have an alarm clock / watch?

I have cats that usually function as my alarm clock on days off. Standing on your chest and meowing as loud as possible 2 inches from your face is an obscenely effective alarm. For work days I rely on a Google Home Hub. It's a great piece of tech. I have a handful of alarm watches. A C4 that is too ...

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

We had a recent warm spell (it's back to -25 Celsius right now) so I took advantage of the warm spring-like days and took my new gravel bike out for a shakedown ride. There is gravel somewhere under that snow.

Doesn't happen often, and when it does it's usually the same person (as I suspect it is this time).

Re: Post a picture from your latest ride

We've had some unseasonably warm weather for the past week. Warm enough that the snow is mostly gone from the roads, and the snow on the trails was just right for riding without studs or fat tires. It was a perfect excuse to take my new gravel bike out for a shakedown ride, and get the brakes bedded...

Could they really have plane tickets booked for them without their knowledge? I can book a flight for anyone without their knowledge. All that is required is their name, birth date and passport number. All that would have been needed is for the producers to require all contestants to provide proof ...

Re: Zurich: The coolest watch brand in town

They look nice enough, but at those prices I want to see some sort of brand design language. It seems that most of the lineup is expensive interpretations of other watches, without anything that makes you say "that's a Zurich".
