Re: The world of mechanical chronographs
How about a second hand Speedmaster Reduced? Though a quick look at Chrono24 shows me the prices of even those have gone up in the last couple of years, sadly. And the dial layout isn't quite as good as the professional but it's still a lovely watch.

Re: The world of mechanical chronographs
This is a very interesting thready for me! :) I have been looking at this a lot recently. I currently only have my standard 3 hander dive watches with me, and a Casio F-91W. I was in a situation at work - repeatedly - where I needed a chronograph and a second timing function (bezel). I wound up usin...

Re: What is this movement like?
The movement is fine. I have two watches with it, one of which is here with me. This one has been a daily wear for most of the last 11 years, (not babied and not shock protected) only had battery changes (at CW) several times in that time rather than a service and three days ago the EOL indicator st...

Re: Looking for a small(ish) beater, preferably analog
Here's another option... Back to G-Shocks, there's the GA-2100-1AER . https://g-shock.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/b3324c89e0e19838a4838fa9f936ad20/g/a/ga-2100-1a_1_1.png Not as thick as a regular G-Shock, some mods are now available if you do scratch it too much (though G-Shocks are for that),...

Re: Incoming...????
It is a gorgeous watch Nigel, nice pick up and well done on getting one of them - the last one no less! I was gutted I only heard of ZW about 3 months after I moved far away from Emsworth (having previously lived very close for a while). These watches are definitely of the sort where you can see whe...

Re: Incoming...????
For my part, the moment I read it was being built and I remembered some recent posts, I knew it was Zero West.

Is it a car? [emoji38]
Or a Zero West Longitude?
Edit: just seen I was beaten to that guess!

Re: Seamaster thoughts
I have a couple of older Seamaster chronos using the Valjoux movement rather than the current METAS movementys. Personally I prefer three sub-dials to two but must admit that the 2021 Americas Cup looks very nice... :D :D Glad you enjoyed the review too. The 2021 Americas Cup ones are indeed lovely...

Re: Seamaster thoughts
Thanks all for this thread and Albionphoto's review! It's been superb reading! I have always quite liked the Seamaster, but have recently gotten quite enamoured by a colleague's Seamaster Chronograph. Not sure I can justify the cost of one, but the design seems so much better put together than anyth...

Re: C65 Chronograph and Memosails
Of course, I agree with what you wrote Steve and accept that I'm in the minority in that my watches have complications that are used. I don't dive but my Kingfishers have instead been snorkeling with me, and on a dive emergency course, and the lume has helped while in a dark boat. I have also used a...

Re: C65 Chronograph and Memosails
The Memosails look great! I'd never heard of them before but they're very interesting. Did CW achieve the right look? I think so. Any sailors out there agree or disagree? I still think no but it's a very personal thing. For me, it was so close. When I'm timing sailing races I need the timer to go fr...

Re: Non CW of the Day
See what you did there with the stern test Guy! (having read about what they did back when the Clipper race was happening) This model was still available on their website late last year and I was sorely tempted but passed in the end as we were moving overseas - now regretting that as it is a great w...

Re: Any suggestions for a small problem?
There are two holes at the (-) point; do those have contacts behind them? You may need to reset with both of those against the AC point if you didn't already?

Re: Any suggestions for a small problem?
Also, it's probably worth soaking the gasket in silicon grease before final reassembly if you don't have a replacement. Just to help keep it supple. Spray or rub some on, leave it for 10 mins and gently rub off any excess. (not with the seal in situ in the watch)

Re: Any suggestions for a small problem?
I have a g-shock with two batteries, and there are two AC reset points. Worth looking up the module number online (I can possibly look later).
