@Kip Thanks for the acknowledgement despite me being about 7+ years tardy to the party! :-)

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread

Literal translations can be amusingly misleading. In fact Ramon Cuervo was the founder of a jewellers in 1862 in Havana. In 1882 he established a new company “Cuervo y Sobrinos” (with his… err…. nephews), selling jewellery and watches to high-end clientele. They started collaborating with Swiss wat...

Re: The cult of Seiko

The one thing I don’t like about Seiko in general is that they cling to Hardlex (mineral) crystal even in price ranges where competitors almost exclusively use sapphire (Presage Hardlex box-domed crystals, I’m looking at you!). One thing I hate is a scratched crystal; drives me mad ... I completely...

Re: The cult of Seiko

I've been a Seiko fan since around 2005 to 2006 when I bought my orange monster. Since then I have acquired a black monster, an orange sawtooth, and a blue sawtooth. To me, the monsters represent unparalleled value in a dive watch. Standard setting lume, a quality bracelet with diver's extension, cr...

Re: Is the Super Compressor technology technically relevant?

I agree and think it is very handsome. However as a fan of dive watches despite me not diving in them, I very much like the freedom I feel while wearing them of not having to worry about them. And I do take them in the water, pool and ocean, even though I don't dive. But, I sure have a hard time cou...

Is the Super Compressor technology technically relevant?

Haven't really paid much attention to CW watches for awhile. I recently received an email promoting the C65 Super Compressor. I thought it was quite handsome and that the super compressor technology was interesting. But, if the super compressor technology is relevant due to its technical merit, as o...

Re: Happy Birthday Kip !!!

Thanks guys. Going out for a birthday lunch and then off for a club fitting. Planning on a new set of clubs as my birthday present. Going all out as my clubs are well worn. Replacing everything but my really good friend...my very trustworthy putter. Is that a euphemism? Glad to hear at your age you...

Re: Sizing a bracelet

+1 on these (type of) tools (block, push pin, and hammer)! I have several tools like the other type referenced in this thread but I will never use them (again). All they do is guarantee me a divot near the hole where I missed. I don't know how you're possibly supposed to align them on the hole accur...

Good to hear from you Joe. Just beware... we have rules now about speedposting. Yes, I saw all that. Just because I am not posting doesn't mean I am not lurking and reading. I'll try to slow it down on the posts though to be a good net citizen. Oops, crap, this makes my third post this weeken...
