According to the video it's to celebrate 90 years of the Reverso. I guess releasing this overly-chunky non-waterproof effort ( ) now gives them 10 years to come up with something good for the big one.

As a fellow layman this seems like a good summary and makes perfect sense throughout - good work

My first real watch still has the biggest presence on my wrist thanks to being a shiny square with a 24mm bracelet. Doesn't look as big as it used to thanks to starting cycling and a manual job rather than sitting in an office so maybe I could consider bigger watches
