Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
It's too bad that the listing is on TZ UK where I don't have an account and thus can't view the sales corner. I've always loved this watch. Might be a tad too big for me, but I might be glad to make an exception. Oh well.

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I am dreaming about this:
If this Lange has offended
Think but this and all is mended
That you have but slumbered here
While this sub-dial did appear
Glorious case, alas expensive
Precious metal, inoffensive
But the price tag doth make pensive
It is nothing but a dream
If this Lange has offended
Think but this and all is mended
That you have but slumbered here
While this sub-dial did appear
Glorious case, alas expensive
Precious metal, inoffensive
But the price tag doth make pensive
It is nothing but a dream

Something like this in the future maybe to round out my German trio (but too expensive I guess).
Since Nomos is too plain for me, there isn't any German brand between Stowa and GO in the mid price points really.

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I love it, Andreas!
What is a grail? A madness. What is a grail? An illusion, a shadow, a story. And the greatest good is little enough: for all life is a dream, and dreams themselves are only dreams.
Now, I wonder if anyone can identify this little adaptation? Less well known than "A Midsummer Night's Dream" except in its country of origin. Not originally in English therefore. I was profoundly affected by this poetic drama at seventeen.

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
Pedro Calderon de la Barca? Ok, I had to google that, but yes, it is true! And without dreams, our lives would be a nightmare! Actually your quotation reminded me of a sonnet by the German author Gryphius:
Du siehst, wohin du siehst, nur Eitelkeit auf Erden.
Was dieser heute baut, reißt jener morgen ein;
Wo jetzund Städte stehn, wird eine Wiese sein,
Auf der ein Schäferskind wird spielen mit den Herden;
Was jetzund prächtig blüht, soll bald zertreten werden;
Was jetzt so pocht und trotzt, ist morgen Asch und Bein;
Noch will, was ewig ist, kein einig Mensch betrachten.
The Vanity of This World
Look anywhere you will, the Earth is empty show.
What someone builds today, another soon tears down;
Where now a city stands will be a grassy mound,
A place that only shepherds grazing their flocks will know.
What blooms so fair at daybreak, by noon is trampled low;
What bravely struts and strives soon turns to ash and bone;
No substance lasts forever, no brass, no polished stone.
One moment fortune smiles, the next brings bitter woe.
Tales of our mighty deeds like dreams must fade away.
How then should Man—Time's plaything—ever hope to stay?
Oh think, what are those objects we prize beyond compare,
Mere shadows, dust, and wind—all worthless, false and vain;
Field flowers glimpsed in passing and never seen again!
For that which is immortal, no man seems to care.

Powerful imagery! Well done on finding the soliloquy of Segismundo from Calderón's "La Vida Es Sueño"...designed to play mind games on impressionable girl-obsessed adolescents!
