C5 Aviator Mark II - Case

Discuss Christopher Ward watches

Why the obcession with bigger (wider) cases? I have small wrists and the C5 Aviator is the biggest watch I can comfortably wear. It is on the smallest hole on the leather strap and still a bit loose. I would not buy anything any bigger, it would just look stupid. If you want a bigger case buy the C8, but leave the C5 as is. Incidentally I have other older watches than my C5 (one an old Omega) and the cases are thinner and smaller, even the automatic one. It just seems that there seems to be the trend for stupidly large watches, which only big people can wear. I would really like a Speedhawk but it is just too clunky.

How about offering it in two sizes, like the Breitling Superocean Heritage or Omega Seamasters?

A 38 or 39mm version, and a 42mm or 44mm version?

Then we could all be happy!

Definitely larger than 38mm - 40 or 42 mm I think.

Brushed look is OK, but wouldn't mind seeing what this would look like with a normal stainless steel case as well.

Er if you want a larger case then why not buy the C8? A 38mm case is about the biggest I could get away with as I have small wrists, anything bigger would just look silly. I think having different size cases is very smart thinking.

I know many people will disagree with this bit but to my mind an aviator watch is a working watch so why not give it a solid back rather than an exhibition case? The advantages are that it gives you a lot more watch real estate and it is a platform for engraving. Don't shoot the messenger, just my opinion.

I'm not very up on the technicalities yet, but having recently tried one and sent it back in favour of the C8 (even though I have quite small wrists) all I would say is that the strap definitely seems a little out of proportion on the current model and needs to be slightly wider...
