The Iron Throne
One of the great things about working in the military antiques business is when items you see and handle almost everyday are transformed by some talented (and slightly insane) individual into something truly wondrous. This is a chair made entirely out of French bayonets and swords. The legs and back frame are made out of two light artillery sabers and two Chassepot bayonets, the seat is made from metal bayonet scabbards, and the back is composed of artistically bent socket bayonets (with an artillery fuze finial above the "ME" initials).

That's brilliant. No all you need to do is get that lovely Denaerys Targaryan lass in her usual attire (or rather lack of it) to sit on it!

Re: The Iron Throne
It is an antique made of antiques. Who did it I do not know but the likeliest culprit in North America would be the now defunct firm of Francis Bannerman & Sons. They were the biggest military surplus dealers in the world following the Spanish-American War and built Bannerman's Castle on the Hudson River just north of New York city as their warehouse and armory. They used to sell bayonets by the pound and I can easily see them making and selling these as curios. Alternatively, it could also be German since everything used in its construction would've been appropriate for the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 and the entwined monogram does give the chair a mainland European feel. What better way to use up war trophies than make furniture out of them? I would assume if the latter is the case, that it was brought back as a souvenir by a returning Doughboy or G.I. after one the World Wars.james80 wrote:Was the chair recently built or is it an antique made of antiques?

Re: The Iron Throne
If you walked around the streets of the UK with that chair you would be arrested for carrying around an "offensive weapon"
like it....it's definitely a "keeper"
