The Oscillator That Could Change The Mechanical Watch

Post by tempusmaximus »

For the first time in 200 years the heart of the mechanical watch has been reinvented , thereby improving precision and autonomy , while making the watch completely silent .

An intriguing article Bernie. Thank you for the link. The concept sounds fascinating but the description of what has been done thus far is too abrupt. I look forward to reading more when the innovators have fleshed out their concept.

I agree JM very intriguing and fascinating , although abrupt has you say .

"Our concept is in a mechanical tradition ,we do not appeal to high technology and our method's are accessible to 18th century engineer's"

I for one are quite excited about the concept , its certainly got me thinking .

Although the only drawback for me personally would be the silent movement , i like the ticking sound of a movement ! :D

Anyway i shall keep my eyes peeled and keep the forum posted of any further developments .

This could be a very revolutionary development. It will be interesting to see if it will function properly after being miniaturised.
